We also work with grocery retailers, mass merchandisers, drug channel, and food service customers across the country to create and produce a wide variety of private label branded productsOverview: Accountable for the Maintenance Department and staff within Trophy Foods Mississauga facility. Overall maintenance responsibility for the premises, production operations, and services. Responsible for the Maintenance Department staff, managing, planning/scheduling, and prioritizing maintenance requirements within an established budget.Develop and implement a best-in-class maintenance organization to generate cost reductions and efficiency gains.Direct Reports include:Maintenance Buyer (1)Maintenance Planner (1)Millwrights/Electricians/Dual Tickets (10)Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Create and manage the annual maintenance budget of $2M according to established Trophy guidelines.Ensure all building and operations equipment and systems are in optimum working order.Ensure all heating and cooling systems are operating within designed parameters and in compliance with all current government standards and regulations.Establish and manage a proactive preventative and predictive maintenance program to prevent major breakdowns of building systems/operations machinery.Coordinate with other departments any maintenance or repair activity to maximize staff utilization and minimize machine downtime.Continually analyze and assess present machinery/systems capitalization and recommend execution of capital projects utilizing project management methodology for plant operating improvements; and using appropriate change management tools.Build and report on metrics related to best-in-class maintenance environments such as:Budget compliance (actual versus forecast)Plant-wide Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)Maintenance costs as a percent of replacement asset valueMaintenance dollars per unit produced.Participate in capital investment projects, developing budgets, negotiating with vendors, and adhering to all regulatory compliance.Establish and maintain an inventory system to ensure adequate stock of equipment parts. Accountable for spare parts inventory strategy to provide a high availability of parts using industry KPIs.Build and report on indicators that will be used to evaluate the consistency in the performance of maintenance activities, including but not limited to:Man hours per work orderDaily schedule completionPM completionPM expense as a percentage of total maintenance expensePercentage of maintenance reworkPercentage of overtime and total calloutsPercentage of emergency work, equipment downtimeEquipment capacity, utilization, running speed, or performance efficiency.Ensure clear communications with all operational staff regarding maintenance-related items.Responsible for the short and long-term maintenance employee requirements, maintenance requirements, and budget allocation. Establish daily/weekly distribution and prioritization of maintenance assignments for maintenance staff and trades.Manage, audit, and ensure maintenance of sprinkler/alarm systems and fire protection equipment are in good working order. Ensure system maintenance audit documents are available upon request.Direct management accountability for the Maintenance Department team. Hiring, training, performance evaluation, and performance management. Develop training and operating procedures as needed and/or directed.Promote a culture that builds, operates, and maintains plants that are operationally sound, safe, and reliable. Implement leading reliability excellence practices and aggressively raise the performance of the department by monitoring key performance indicators (i.e. equipment downtime, operator safety indexes, etc.).Accountable for investigating and reporting all work-related accidents and property damage as it relates to the Maintenance Department procedures. Responsible for reporting and acting upon safety concerns forwarded by employees and responding to maintenance items defined by safety audits.Accountable for promoting and administering Safety Policies and communicating safety-related information and enforcing safe manufacturing procedures/practices for employees, contractors, subcontractors and ensuring Trophy and third-party contractors to meet and exceed OHSA standards meet Trophy and governmental occupational and environmental standards. Ensure Maintenance employees follow all plant rules and OHSA. Train and orient new staff in the specific functions and tasks of their job, as well as all health and safety practices/ procedures/risks.Manage, prioritize, and complete safety work orders and communicate status to JHSC. Member of the Trophy Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC).Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Plant Manager.Experience, Qualifications, and Educational Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical) with a preference for a Mechanical Engineering degree.10+ years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience within a manufacturing packaging machinery environment.5+ years of demonstrated skilled trades leadership experience within a 24-hour operation, fast-paced manufacturing environment.Must be flexible to work some alternate shifts/weekends to cover the demands of our business. Required to be on-call for emergencies and/or assist with decision-making for the maintenance team.Proven communication skills: setting clear, reasonable expectations, managing, and measuring team deliverables.Must be able to perform efficiently under pressure and within time restraints.Must be able to make good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment.Willing to be a hands-on Manager, with a lot of time spent on the facility floor.Demonstrated ability to provide and maintain a safe and effective working environment.Project development and CAPEX plant project management experience.Reliability-Centered Maintenance training and experience is highly desirable.Experience with condition-based maintenance and Root Cause Failure Analysis.Advanced knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).Working knowledge of budgets, process reports, and other financial statements.Proficient with standard software products.JDE or other ERP experience required.Experience with BRC or food manufacturing facility an asset.Knowledge of HACCP regulations and GMP regulations.Trophy is an equal opportunity employer that values workforce diversity.
