ResponsibilitiesThe Risk Management Department contributes to the sustainable growth of the Societe Generale group through its expertise, understanding of risks, and risk management techniques. The department’s mission is to independently analyze, assess, manage, and monitor risk-taking activities with the objective of achieving, together with the first line-of-defense, the best possible outcome for the bank. The department oversees the enterprise, strategic, credit, market, liquidity, operational, model, and other risks of the corporate and investment banking business activities.ABOUT THE JOB:This role is within the Model Risks’ Governance Team of the Risk Management Division (RISQ). RISQ’s main mission is to contribute to develop SG Group business and returns through the implementation of an efficient risk management process. Model risks’ governance refers to the framework and processes to effectively manage the risks associated with the use of models. The candidate will work for the Model Risk Management team (RISQ/MRM) located in Montreal.As a Risk Governance Specialist, you will be pivotal in driving the consistent application of the Model Risks’ Governance framework for Societe Generale’s Americas division, covering a diverse range of model families. Reporting directly to the Senior Management of Model Risks’ Governance, you’ll take the lead on managing and maintaining the AMER Model Inventory and the Model Risk Management platform (GRC Platform) — the core system that underpins inventory tracking and model governance across the region.This role demands a deep understanding of the model lifecycle. You’ll play an instrumental role in implementing policies and controls that uphold model accuracy, reliability, and suitability, ensuring they effectively support decision-making processes.If you’re a detail-oriented professional with a passion for enhancing model governance, this role offers an impactful opportunity within a dynamic, high-stakes environment.What will be your DAY-TO-DAY?This role offers an opportunity to lead and strengthen model risk governance across a dynamic, high-stakes landscape. As a Risk Officer (Model Risk Governance), you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and effectiveness of our model risk governance.Your key responsibilities include:Refine the Risk Framework: Enhance AMER model risk appetite and management framework.Manage Model Inventory: Engage stakeholders to maintain the SG AMER Model Inventory and support the annual certification.Oversee Approval Processes: Manage approvals for initial use, model changes, and ongoing validations.Coordinate with Validation Teams: Set validation priorities for models, aligning with regulations and industry best practices.Conduct Quality Control: Perform checks on independent model reviews.Governance and Reporting: Implement model risk processes, assess risk, and report to governance forums.Support Regulatory and Audit Preparation: Prepare materials for regulators and internal/external audits.Collaborate on Tech Solutions: Partner with technology to build model inventory and workflow solutions.Track and Report Issues: Review and monitor remediation actions and distribute governance materials.Skills and Qualifications:Must Have:3+ Years of Risk Management Experience: Proven track record in risks management, model risk, with deep knowledge of risk metrics, model controls, and industry standards, including regulatory requirements like SR11-07.Bachelor’s Degree: Finance, Economics, or a similar field.Policy Documentation Expertise: Strong experience drafting policy and procedure documentation, MIS reports, and materials for senior management, oversight forums, and regulators.Change Management and Influence: Demonstrated success as a trusted partner in implementing changes and fostering adoption among end-users.Exceptional Interpersonal Skills: Highly collaborative and able to engage with cross-functional teams.Attention to Detail and Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented, organized, and adept at prioritization.Nice to Have:Consultancy/Audit Firm Experience: Background in consulting or audit, especially in managing multiple risk management projects within investment or financial sectors.Languages:Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, is a requirement as the person in this position will need to collaborate regularly with colleagues and partners in the United States.Due to US Federal Securities law applying to this position, candidates who will apply for this position will be required to submit to an enhanced background screening, including the collection of their fingerprints by a third-party vendor selected by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”).
