Job Description:Job Description Location: Brantford, Ontario About the position This position will be based in Brantford, Canada. Above all, the Cooking Operator is to work safely by observing all safety rules, including proper utilization of lock out tag out. The Cooking Operator will work under the direction of the Production Supervisor. Responsible for the safe forklift operations. This is a key position where the employee will be trained on operating specific equipment in the process of making Cheese. This role will be required to lift raw ingredients (bags up to 50lbs) into hoppers and the organize their work activities to achieve production goals. Core Responsibilities: Safety • Knowledge and understanding of company safety policy, systems, and good practice relevant to Sourcing Unit and the responsibility placed upon individuals. • Ensure that procedures and practice adhere to safety policy and legislation. • Report all safety related issues and near misses to supervisor. If required will do the safety inspections in the operator's area. • Industrial vehicles must be operated in a manner as not to endanger any person or property. All training guidelines must be followed. • Wear required PPE while performing all job duties. • Complete basic safety training provided to handle chemicals and dangerous goods. • Must actively contribute to the safe working environment, to include the completion of Safety By Observation (SBO's) • Safe, licensed operation of powered industrial vehicles • Required to complete and contribute to all relevant trainings and EWO and associated paperwork. Quality • Knowledge of product quality and food safety procedures. • Must actively contribute to all the quality related trainings and complete assessments. • Report any process related discrepancies to the Supervisors. • Completes all Critical Control documents to ensure product quality. • Performs any specified quality assurance checks designated for each job, function or assignment. • Understands and adheres to color code. • Prioritizes Consumer Safety by adhering to the strict Food Safety and GMP requirements set by the company and may halt activities when there is potential risk for noncompliance. • Complete all Quality required batch testing including PH, Moisture and color testing. Operational Activities • Maintains close communication with maintenance (Mechanics and Electricians) as well as Process Operators and Packaging Technicians / Operators. • Coordinate with Production Supervisor to understand schedule requirements for production. • Assures good interactions with co-workers and with other functions of the company. Displays appropriate work ethics in the workplace • Maintains good housekeeping and clean work areas in assigned work sites. • Assure that all work assigned to position is performed in accordance with specifications, instructions and requirements, including cleaning the sifter discharge as needed, Completing the Beta Carotene and Citric Acid prep as required • Demonstrates ability to meet production standards on specific assignments within a reasonable time, depending on the degree of difficulty of their job functions. • Carries out forklift checks to ensure that it is clean and in a safe condition per the established procedure. • Leading 5s activities and helping push forward the overall TPM agenda. Working on focused improvements and being an active member of a cell team responsible for the overall safety, quality, waste and efficiency for a specific area • Other duties as assigned. Environmental • Follows proper containment and reporting procedures and escalates any environmental release as soon as they are known, this includes releases to internal drains. • Reduce costs due to waste and minimize impact to health, safety and the environment through working to eliminate waste and through the correct management of waste and hazardous materials. • Must actively contribute to an eco-efficient environment including, but not limited to disposing of materials in the appropriate waste streams. Problem Solving • An awareness of how to identify, prioritize and address problems using appropriate tools and techniques that eliminate recurrence. • Ability to make decisions when identifying in-process problems. Ability to deal with a variety of job assignments. Teamwork • Must be a good team player capable of working within a highly effective team; responsible, supportive and able communicator. Minimum Requirements: • 2-3 years' experience in manufacturing environment required; food production environment preferred. • Prior SAP experience required. • Forklift experience is an asset; however, certification is not required – will train in house. • Strong attention to detail and organization skills. • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal. • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well within a team environment. • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. maximum Job ID: 40704267___________________Upfield
