Human by nature.As a member of the Global Advocacy and Scientific Services Group, reporting into the global head Scientific Affairs, provide scientific and toxicology leadership for the Givaudan Taste and Wellbeing Division in order to ensure that products adhere to the global regulatory requirements and company’s safety standards. Act as focal point to other business functions in these areas. Lead the creation of product documentation including studies and dossiers to ensure that new products are timely and efficiently registered with relevant authorities and sustain compliance.Core ResponsibilitiesProduct Safety AssuranceAdvise Givaudan management on emerging issues relevant to regulatory policy as well as issues impacting potential product safety or regulatory compliance.Ensure all new and existing products comply with the company safety standards, customer safety guidelines, government regulations and trade association requirements.Conduct safety evaluations, studies and risk assessments for food flavourings, botanical extracts, food ingredients, food supplements, enzymes and microorganisms.Perform safety reviews of new substances developed by Science and Technology prior to and during sensory evaluation and communicate key aspects to enable development of products with a favorable safety profile.Lead and manage the international interactions related to product safety and regulatory affairs between Global PSRQA and other internal functions.New Product DevelopmentProvide guidance for the product safety and regulatory aspects of new ingredient introduction and raw material maintenance.Collect, manage, interpret and translate scientific information and provide computational toxicology capabilities to support and advance global Science and Technology initiatives.Identify and incorporate new toxicology science technologies and tools into safety review process.Product Documentation and RegistrationProvide guidance to commercialization of new Givaudan technologies with timely registration and approvals of new molecules and products.Lead efforts in obtaining and compiling relevant data needed including toxicological studies to support registrations and acting as the liaison between assigned S+T project teams and product safety.Act as the go to person for various Science and Technology Projects.Conduct literature searches and evaluations for relevant products and product families.Regulatory PolicyAdhere to and identify potential needs for new policies that ensure consistent and compliant business practices.Provide scientific and regulatory support to commercial and business teams.Participate as a project team member for assigned S&T, Commercial, or Operation teams.Provide leadership to Givaudan’s regulatory and scientific advocacy program to support our current and future initiatives.Interpret societal trends, scientific and technical data impacting Givaudan products safety.You? Self-motivated, dealing with high quantities of information.Excellent communication skills allowing to translate and communicate complex scientific subjects to non-experts and to obtain buy in to scientific proposals.Deal with multiple projects in parallel and capable to prioritize.Experience of working in a multicultural environment, preferably with a multidisciplinary approach.Team-player who can also work independently.An advanced internationally recognized university degree (Ph.D. or MSc) in one of the following preferred fields: toxicology, chemistry, biochemistry, or food chemistry preferably in combination with experience in the regulatory/toxicology environment.Minimum 8 - 10 years of relevant industry experience in product safety or relevant scientific area and/or regulatory affairs.Fluent in English (written and oral), French is a plus.Advanced knowledge of food or food ingredient regulations, chemistry, biology and toxicology.Advanced knowledge of industry and customer safety and regulatory requirements, including technical criteria and/or specifications.Current knowledge of safety trends and issues facing the industry.Expert knowledge of safety assessment and ingredient registration requirements and processes.Thorough knowledge of formulae creation procedures.Advanced knowledge in regulatory toxicology discipline and ability to manage that discipline within a broader regulatory environment.Advanced knowledge of programmed systems and database management.At Givaudan, you contribute to delightful taste and scent experiences that touch people’s lives.
