Reporting to the Microbial Services Manager, and based at OSP’s Calgary Technical Centre, the Lab Technician will perform an integral role within the LifeCheck microbial testing product line. This position will be responsible for conducting microbial testing as requested by OSP clients, report writing, contributing to external scientific content, and various other client driven technical assignments. As our Lab Technician, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:Laboratory testing in support of OSP’s LifeCheck service offering. Laboratory tasks will include (but are not limited to):General housekeeping and laboratory information management (LIMS)ATP testingBiocide efficacy testingMicrobial DNA extractionqPCRTargeted amplicon (gene) sequencingRecording and interpreting dataPreparing client-facing technical reports in a timely and accurate mannerAssisting clients and internal sales with technical questionsMaintaining and aiding in the development of standard operating procedures and lab practicesAssisting in the development and enhancement of OSP IP, technology and service offeringsCommitment to health and safety To be successful in this role, your resume will outline the following qualifications:Diploma, Undergraduate or Graduate degree in a life sciences related field, with strong preference given to candidates with training in microbiology.
