Toronto's new Ontario Line subway is now under construction. The Connect 6ix consortium has a key role in this project, delivering the trains, the signaling system, and the operations, storage, and maintenance facility. Connect 6ix will also operate the Ontario Line for a 30-year term once it comes into service.The role is Full-time 100% onsite position at our downtown office.The Senior Buyer will be responsible for the management of purchase requests authorized and assigned by the Procurement Manager.ROLE AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES• Preparation of request for quotation to be submitted to the suppliers included on the vendor list for the type of goods assigned.• Definition of the supplier list within the vendor list for the type of goods assigned, ensuring its approval in compliance with the procedures defined.• Management, together with the Procurement Manager, of the activities of commercial and contractual negotiation with identified suppliers for the type of goods assigned, in order to pursue the targets of cost reduction, synergy, excellent quality and optimization of lead times. Tracking of contractually relevant correspondence exchanged through the systematic, organized use of corporate communication tools.• Analysis, compare and assessment of the bids received from suppliers, ensuring technical verification by the requesting Corporate Departments/Operational Units.• Preparation of summary tables of the final bids and recommendations to be shared with the requesting Corporate Departments/Operational Units, ensuring approval and archiving in compliance with the procedures defined.• Drafting of the terms and conditions of contracts/purchase orders, with the assistance of the Legal Department and Contract Department and liaising with the requesting Departments, ensuring that authorizations are obtained in advance, as established by the system of authorizations and powers of attorney.• Issue and system update of purchase orders in compliance with the procedures defined.• Support to the Global Commodity Manager in the negotiation and management of framework agreements relative to the type of goods assigned.• Support to the Regional Procurement Managers and Purchasing Managers in preparing procurement plans for the Operational Units, under the scope of the type of goods assigned, with a view to maximizing efficiency and effectiveness.• Execution of research, identification, qualification and management of suppliers’ vendor list for the assigned commodity, with Vendor Management support.SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:• University degree, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrate the required skills• 7+ years of experience in Procurement (Procurement/Sourcing) department in a highly flexible environment• Extensive experience in prioritizing and organizing work activities and managing multiple tasks simultaneously within set deadlines and timelines• Knowledge and experience of inventory, purchasing and supplier management activity• Knowledge and experience of working with ERP systems SAP preferable.• Sound knowledge of cost control functions to perform cost control processes and make appropriate business decisions for multiple assigned projects• Proficient in MS word, excel spreadsheets, outlook, database and word processing softwareWork Environment:At WeBuild, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive culture that promotes gender equity and the recruitment of under-represented groups at all levels of our workforce.
