Job descriptionJob Overview: We are hiring for a client in the construction industry who is seeking a skilled Senior Estimator to join their team. In this role, you will play a key part in enhancing the client’s profitability by preparing accurate estimates, managing bids, and overseeing construction projects from start to finish. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying high-value projects and ensuring their successful execution.Responsibilities:Cost Estimation and Bidding: Develop precise and competitive costestimates using efficient construction practices. Engage with reliablesubcontractors and suppliers to ensure optimal project costs.Market Analysis: Monitor and assess the construction market to identifyprojects that align with the client’s capabilities and interests.Bid Preparation: Collaborate with the Estimating Manager to preparecomprehensive final bids for construction projects.Stakeholder Liaison: Communicate regularly with general contractors,consultants, municipal engineers, and construction management firms to pursue tender opportunities and negotiate contract agreements.Project Administration: Oversee administrative aspects of awardedprojects, including bonding, insurance, construction schedules, permits,subcontract agreements, and job costing. Manage projects typically relatedto ICI, Sub-Municipal, and Sub-Division types.Project Management: Attend site meetings, identify and price additionalwork, coordinate and schedule project activities, resolve contract disputes,handle invoicing and account collections, and assist with job quantitymeasurements.Performance Analysis: Conduct performance analysis comparing actualproject outcomes to bid estimates, and perform cost/profit evaluations.Technical Assistance: Provide technical support to the Project Manager asneeded.Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to and promote the client’s Healthand Safety goals and objectives.Qualifications:Minimum of 2 years in a similar role; construction industry experience, especially in road construction, is an asset.ICI experience preferred.Software Skills: Familiarity with BID2WIN is preferred but not required.Education: Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation is preferred but not mandatory.Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities.Interpersonal Skills: Personable with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.Technical Skills: Excellent computer skills are essential.Licensing: Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle for site visits.
