Work Setting: Estimating Tasks

1. Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs
2. Prepare elemental format estimates (Classes B, C, D)
3. Operate CADD and other computer software systems
4. Prepare estimates for general expenses and overheads
5. Project cash flow and financing requirements
6. Create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets and bids forms
7. Utilize quantity take-off procedures
8. Monitor and adjust contract expenditures
9. Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
10. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications

1. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
2. Computer and Technology Knowledge:
   • Estimating packages
