TITLE:  Part Time - Assistant to the Production Manager

DIVISION:  Centre for Arts, Design & Information Technology

SALARY:  $25.27 per hour 

HOURS:  Tuesday to Thursday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

HOURS PER WEEK: 24

LOCATION:  50 Tankhouse Lane

STATUS:  Regular Part Time Support

Position Description:

  • The Assistant to the Production Manager for GeorgeBrown Theatre School, along with the Production Manager/Technical Director, isresponsible for overall planning and technical execution of the school’s 5 mainstage productions per season, as well as other smaller classroom activities andpresentations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and leads IATSE Local 58 technical crew on designated crew calls.
  • Takes a larger planning and leadership role for some of the smaller class presentations as assigned by the Production Manager (Test Pieces, Period Study, Vocal Masques, etc.).
  • Assists in the creation of daily/weekly/monthly/seasonal schedules as required.
  • Drives rental vehicles to assist with the movement of props, set and costumes as needed between rental companies, off-site storage and the Young Centre for the Performing Arts.
  • Attends show production meetings and taking accurate minutes for distribution to the creative teams for each show.
  • Provides general technical expertise, assistance and direction for all faculty and staff of George Brown Theatre School.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or accumulated related experience in Technical Theatre, and specifically Technical Theatre Management. Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of one to two years’ experience in an Assistant Manager role in the performing arts industry.
  • Experience with CAD software and interpreting construction drawings, lighting design and implementation, audio design and implementation, and set construction.
  • A valid G-class or G2-class driver’s license.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to engage with varied clientele and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and exercise sound judgment.
  • Excellent time management skills are required to effectively prioritize with minimal supervision.
  • Positive attitude, flexible working approach and willingness to help where there is an organizational need.
  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College’s priorities on diversity and equity.

Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.
