Position Summary: The Estimating Coordinator will support the day-to-day function of the Estimating Department by leading the creation of D models. A successful candidate will be required to create new models using Agtek/CAD/Survey and Drone Data to compile and calculate values to support ongoing tenders in a timely manner. This position will also include aiding the estimating team in tender opening and closing functions to enable Taggart Construction to efficiently bid tenders. Contacting of suppliers and sub-contractors as well as distribution of required plans and specifications to sub-contractors to ensure competitive pricing is received. We are seeking an individual with a strong technical affinity for D modelling to join our team, ideally with interests in heavy civil infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Other key qualities are organizational skills, strong attention to detail, versatility and multi-tasking while under the pressure of meeting project firm deadlines. Major Responsibilities: Produce D models using Agtek/CAD/Survey and Drone Data to support the completion of tenders Collect data from engineering plans, specifications and geotechnical reports for appropriate design requirements and correlate with CAD/Survey and Drone Data to produce D models and required data outputs. Create D surfaces for construction purpose on successful tenders to enable for GPS machine control. Complete surface and quantity takeoffs with reporting in Agtek to verify tender/bid quantities. Data transfer of the forms of tender into the estimating bidding software (HCSS). Gather project tender data and sort into shared folders as well as notifying lead estimator on the project of any new data received and filed. Compile supplier and sub-contractor pricing aiding the estimators on closing tenders. Tracking closed tenders and documenting industry pricing for review by the Director of Estimating. Scanning and filing of all estimate documents in tender folders. All other duties as required. Education and Experience Requirements: Tertiary education in Construction Engineering is essential in this role. - years experience in D modelling, heavy construction or a related field within the industry would be considered an asset. Familiarity with modelling programs including but not limited to AutoCAD and BIM Modelling, experience with Agtek modeling software is considered an asset. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to be tech-savvy in learning new systems and programs. Must have demonstrated ability to read, understand and interpret construction plans and specifications. Previous field based experience related to heavy civil infrastructure, utility, water, sewer and waste water projects will be considered an asset. Ability to work under pressure, meet continuous deadlines and be adaptable to change. Ability to remain a self-starter through repetitive tasks and maintain a high quality of work. Strong planning and organizational skills, with fine attention to detail. Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Physical/Sensory Effort/Work Environment Valid driver’s license will be required to conduct occasional pre-tender site visits throughout the City of Ottawa and surrounding area. Providing assistance and modeling to several members of the department, working under many simultaneous deadlines. Working for long periods of time at a sit/stand workstation when in the office surrounding. Overtime as required to complete and submit project requirements on schedule.
