Who we need: Reporting to the Dean of Liberal Arts, the Full-Time Faculty member is responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in psychology, designing learning activities and assessing student performance, in alignment with our mission of championing student success. They will facilitate a range of undergraduate courses. Area of specialization within psychology is open. Faculty will be required to work on-site at the New Westminster Campus located at 88 6th Street. Classes run between 9am - 9pm, Monday to Saturday and are assigned based on availability. What you will do: Facilitates undergraduate courses, develops and delivers instruction, and designs course materials, aligning with the course, program and institutional learning outcomes and values. Provides timely, constructive feedback and evaluates learning using a variety of effective assessment mechanisms. Provides academic advice and guidance to students by holding regular office hours for student support, and providing timely responses to emails, to support learning outcomes. Implements inclusive teaching practices that anticipate, value, and respond to the diversity of learner needs and experiences. Engages in reflective practice and on-going professional development, leveraging information from various sources, including student evaluations of learning, to identify areas for growth as an educator. Uses the University’s LMS, classroom technologies and other digital resources to support teaching and learning. Engages in departmental and university-level service through committee participation, where applicable, and contributes to the administration of the university through committee work, as required. Maintains disciplinary relevance through scholarship and/or community connections to facilitate authentic learning. Participates in curriculum development, assessment, accreditation, quality assurance of courses, SLOs and other university initiatives. Collaborates with cross-functional colleagues in academic and student services, teaching and learning design, program leadership, and student services, ensuring the integrity of the learning experience. Attends and contributes productively to meetings and other relevant Yorkville events. Cooperates with administrators and colleagues to advance priorities of academic areas to enhance the Yorkville community. Acts as an ambassador for the staff and faculty, contributing to the promotion of core values, distinctive capabilities and a positive culture that supports equity, inclusion, learning, and wellness. Upholds the integrity of academic and university policies and complies with provincial and federal legislation. What you bring: Graduate degree in psychology (open specialization) and PhD are required. 3+ years of post-secondary teaching experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning strategies and fostering an inclusive learning environment. Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal and networking skills, experience in LMS platforms and educational technologies and MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams). Proven ability to work collaboratively to achieve common goals, exercise mature discretion and maintain confidentiality of student records. Teaching experience in relevant discipline at program level. Experience with international and/or diverse learners preferred. Record of scholarship is considered an asset.
