Department: Operations Reports to: VCC Venue Manager Direct Reports: None Position Status & Locations:Full-time & Vancouver on-site Salary: $50,000 - $55,000About Invictus Games 2025: The Invictus Games is a biennial international adaptive sporting competition for wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans from around the world. Through the power of sport, the Games inspire recovery, support rehabilitation, and generate a wider understanding and respect for those who have served their country. The Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 will take place from February 8 to 16, 2025, on the traditional territories of the Lil ? wat7 ú l (L í l ? wat), x ? m ? ? k ?? y ?? m (Musqueam), S ? wx _ w ú 7mesh (Squamish) and s ? lilw ? ta ? (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Over 500 wounded, injured and sick service personnel and Veterans from more than 20 nations are set to compete in a wide range of adaptive sports, including adaptive winter sports, for the first time in Invictus Games history. The Vancouver Whistler Games Corporation (VWGC) is a Canadian not-for-profit organization established to organize and host the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025. The Role The Venue Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the operational planning and execution of the Invictus Games 2025 events held at the Vancouver Convention Centre (VCC). This position demands a blend of leadership, effective communication, and a comprehensive understanding of multi-sport Games operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in leading the venue team and fostering collaborative relationships with venue stakeholders. Key Areas of Responsibility: Lead the planning and execution of Games operations at Vancouver Convention Centre.Assist the Venue Manager with the integration of FA’s operational plans, and the coordination and delivery of venue team meetings and venue staff training. Ensure that VCC is designed to deliver planned Games-time services and operations.Support in the development, implementation, and testing of the venue documentation such as venue operations plan, daily run sheets, policies, procedures, and contingency plans. Develop and manage venue delivery timelines in collaboration with functional areas.Facilitate clear communication channels within the venue delivery team to ensure timely information sharing.Proactively identify and resolve emerging issues across functional areas and external stakeholders.Provide support, direction, and management to the venue team, adhering to pre-agreed operating principles.Leverage venue workforce and foster a sense of community within the Games delivery team, prioritizing team cohesion.Emphasize operational health and safety on venue.Undertake any other operational delivery tasks essential for the project's success.Qualifications, Skills, Competencies:Previous experience in venue management or operational management, preferably in a large-scale public facility. Demonstrated success in leading and managing large, multi-disciplinary teams. Excellent computer skills across the Microsoft suite of programs. Experience with Project Management tools such as Smartsheet is an asset.Strong project management capabilities, with experience developing goals, plans, and resource allocations to meet deadlines. Familiarity with crowd management and venue safety protocols. Understanding of sports, entertainment, and hospitality industry operational concepts. An ability to adapt to the developing needs and changing demands of a high pressure and high-profile project handling multiple tasks and deadlines continually.Ability to make difficult decisions and solve problems under pressure in accordance with Games Operation’s procedures, policies, and contingency plans. Excellent communication skills at all levels, with the ability to influence key decision-makers. Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in developing, implementing, and understanding strategic and operational issues. Familiarity with the Invictus Games Movement and its principles.The Process: We do our best to contact all applicants on the status of their application.
