POSITION: ACCOUNTING & FINANCIAL REPORTING MANAGER

Location: Vaughan, Ontario, Canada

Summary of the Position

This role will be responsible for maintaining internal control policies in accordance with Canadian accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations. Candidate responsibilities include timely and accurate reporting of financial statements, budgets, forecasts, reconciliations, and other management reports. The candidate will be responsible for completing accounting and reporting functions that include A/R, sales tax filings, general accounting, generating, and analyzing financial statements, creating presentations, and presenting to Stakeholders.

Job Duties

  • Month-End Closing: Ensuring the accurate and timely completion of all accounting tasks. Creating journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements. Responsible for budget variance analysis reporting and setting up A/R
  • Financial Reporting, Analysis and Forecasting: Prepare financial statements, prepare reconciliations, and cash flow projections for stakeholders
  • Presenting Financial Results to Stakeholders: Provide support to the Senior Manager with the preparation of power point slides and presenting to stakeholders
  • Annual Budgeting: Provide support to Senior Manager during the annual budgeting process, including input, preparation, reporting, and analysis as required
  • Sales Tax Filings: Prepare, filing and payment of monthly GST/HST/PST Tax payments by the due date. Communicate with CRA as required and include providing audit documentation, annual tax reporting due date schedules and update stakeholder information
  • Accounts Receivable Collection and Reporting: Complete setup, monitor and collection of monthly receivables and provide monthly reconciliations and reports.
  • Audit Support: Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits and other financial reviews, providing necessary reconciliation and documentation.
  • Projects: Assist with projects that automate and improve processes within finance and cross functionally

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA), and
  • 6+ years of accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting experience

Core Skills and Competencies:

  • Related work experience, preferably in an NPO environment
  • Experience and expertise in working with an ERP system, preferably SAGE
  • Experience managing the relationships with CRA and external auditors ensuring the smooth completion of annual audits
  • Knowledge of Accounting Standards for Canadian Not-for-profit organizations
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to communicate and present effectively to external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently by applying critical thinking to resolve business needs
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic fast paced environment managing competing priorities
  • Other duties as required
