Skeena Resources Limited is a Canadian exploration mining company, focused on working towards the restart of the past-producing Eskay Creek gold-silver mine with additional development projects in our portfolio, all located in Tahltan Territory in the Golden Triangle of northwest British Columbia, Canada. Eskay Creek was the highest-grade gold mine in the world when in production. By joining our team, you will become part of an organization driven by opportunity, entrepreneurship, and business results.Job Title: Laboratory AnalystReporting directly to Skeena’s Site Manager, the Laboratory Analyst is responsible for various tasks that support the work of the commissioning team at Eskay Creek project site in northwestern British Columbia. Responsibilities may include performing daily analysis and maintaining production with limited supervision, assisting in the development of industry standard assay procedures, reporting, as well as performing some manual labour. The ideal candidate will be someone who has practical field experience in commercial labs that analyze exploration samples. Responsibilities (including but not limited to):Work with the commissioning team to bring the assay lab to full operationCapable of performing daily analysis and maintaining production with limited supervisionCapable of working with fellow team members to ensure continuous and smooth flow of assaysComplete understanding of the use of standard reference materials and how they are integrated and used to ensure quality analysisAssist with writing and developing appropriate industry standard assay procedures and instructional references for assay staffMust be familiar with MSDS data sheets and their useMust be capable and willing to perform tasks in all areas of the laboratory from receiving to final reportingMust maintain procedures and documentation on a daily basis to support ISO 17025 requirementsMonitor and manage daily assay laboratory inventory to ensure adequate supply to meet daily production requirementsBe capable and willing to perform manual labourMust be able to meet Skeena safety and corporate policy requirements Experience and QualificationsDegree in chemistry, mining technology and/or high school diploma with 5 years’ experience in a mining laboratory or a commercial lab that analyzes exploration samples.Experience with Fire Assaying or Atomic Absorption, ICP-OES, IR S/C.Experience with classical titration & gravimetric methods.Basic computer skills.Assay Net LIMS or other LIMS knowledge an asset.Knowledge and experience with industry accepted sample preparation procedures.Good housekeeping and organizational skills.Strong commitment to safety.First Aid – or other safe laboratory qualifications is required.Understanding of WHMIS-SDS maintenance of documents required procedure.Ability to work on a compressed schedule on fly in fly out – bus in bus out project. This position involves working at a remote exploration site on a two week on/two week off rotation. The Eskay Creek project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Transportation would be provided from Telegraph Creek, Dease Lake and Iskut as well as flights from Vancouver, Kamloops, Prince George, Terrace and Smithers with shuttles from either the Bob Quinn airport or Terrace Airport to Eskay Creek camp facilities.There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
