Role Description
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who is keen on providing quality solutions, have great fundamentals, proven experience building and architecting at scale, and not afraid of challenging conventions or voicing their opinions. In this role, you will have the autonomy to design and implement solutions to achieve defined goals while actively participating in defining those goals. An understanding of cloud-based modern event driven micro service architecture, infrastructure, and orchestration practices are also great assets we actively look for.
Things You Get To Do:
- Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for ascenario.
- Drives identification of dependencies and the development of design documents fora product, application, service, or platform.
- Creates, implements, optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to establish andimprove performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment(ROI).
- Leverages subject-matter expertise of product features and partners withappropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive aworkgroup's projectplans, release plans, and work items.
- Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on calls to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiating actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate.
- Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
Who You Are (Must-Haves):
- Proactive problem solver with strong communication and collaboration skills
- Works well independently or in a team, preferring simple solutions
- Experienced in FIX protocol and microservices, with at least 3 years of scalable systems experience
- Proficient in Go with a focus on clean, maintainable code
- Familiar with domain-driven and event-driven design, debugging, and containerization (especially Kubernetes)
- Knowledgeable in OS primitives, networking, cloud platforms (preferably GCP), messaging queues, relational databases (preferably PostgreSQL), and networking technologies
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
- Prior experience within the financial sector or familiarity with clearing and settlement procedures
- Experience with DTCC integration
- Experience working in a hybrid environment
- Experience working at a startup
- CI/CD Experience: Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices for streamlined software development and deployment processes.
- Scripting for Developer Tools: Proficiency in scripting languages to build and enhance developer tools, automate repetitive tasks, and improve workflow efficiency.

Role can include business visits to clients' locations (such as in Ontario).
