JOB SUMMARY

Under the general direction of a Supervisor in Energy Services, the Energy Services Engineer is responsible for providing technical and project management support for Envari’s growing energy services business. The individual will identify, develop and design energy management solutions that will enable commercial customers to reduce their energy costs by improving the efficiency of their operations. The preferred candidate will have experience in engineering design of commercial, industrial, and institutional building electrical and mechanical systems, and construction project management. This person will be expected to utilize their network of industry contacts to support the growth of the energy services business.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with multi-disciplinary team to identify, design, and implement energy management solutions for commercial, industrial, and institutional customers

Perform the engineering design process for building mechanical and electrical systems including heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, power distribution, lighting, controls, life-safety systems, and renewable power generation and storage

Prepare and deliver proposals, technical reports, and feasibility studies

Provide project management services throughout life of projects from design to construction completion including

Liaising with client to determine needs of the project and create a project plan

Manage sub-consultants and contractors

Create and monitor project schedule

Ensure project is constructed as per design, quality, budget, and schedule

Report on project progress to stakeholders

Negotiate revisions to scope of work, enforce the contract/design documents, and resolve disputes

Deliver the above services to meet division’s financial targets and objectives

Develop industry relationships to support growth of business

Promote and increase awareness of the Envari brand in the marketplace through participation in industry associations such as ASHRAE, IEEE, and IESNA

Perform other related duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Sustainable and Renewable Energy Engineering

Be, or be able to become, a Professional Engineer licensed in the Province of Ontario

Experience in energy management and building systems (i.e.: lighting, controls and HVAC systems)

Minimum of 5 years’ electrical or mechanical engineering design for building systems including power distribution, building automation, lighting, emergency power, etc.

Experience in site investigations, report writing, construction review, specification writing, and commissioning of building systems

Experience managing construction projects, coordinating with trades and consultants, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget

Experience in business development, proposal and work plan preparation

Strong computer skills, proficient in MS Office suite of products. Experience with AutoCAD and Revit considered an asset

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification considered an asset

Experience with cogeneration projects/facilities considered an asset

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

English essential, both oral and written; Bilingual (French/English) considered an asset

This is a management group opportunity and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
