Calian Composites is an offshoot of Calian AT, focusing on the fabrication and use of advanced composites for satcom and other industries.Recently, AT has developed carbon fiber composite antennas for the next wave of high bandwidth internet-over-satellite. To continue the endeavor into cutting edge manufacturing technologies, we are looking for individuals who share our passion for new and innovative ideas.Calian is looking for dynamic and passionate Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Manager of Composite Engineering, you will be an integral member of the team and will be responsible for supporting design and manufacturing of new and existing products.ResponsibilitiesMentor and train staff including indirect reports.Initiate, oversee, and implement lean manufacturing initiatives.Develop and maintain work instructions for production.Evaluate the safety of new products on the shop floor.Design and construct jigs, fixtures, etc.Support quoting, project planning, and project management on initiatives and projects.Support the development of new manufacturing methods or technologies.Define and implement workflows, and support the shop floor layout.Prepare and implement engineering change orders.Assist in management of the bill of materials and other documentation.QualificationsDiploma or degree in manufacturing, mechanical, industrial engineering or demonstrated experience.Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience.Experience leading small teams is considered an asset.Experience with composite material manufacturing is an asset but not required.Experience in CAD, particularly Siemens NX is an asset.Experience with SAP is an asset.Additional RequirementsThe ability to meet the requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Program is mandatory.
