The Estimator will prepare bids for hospitality and commercial projects in furniture and fixtures. Most bids will be custom furniture, however, it is expected the hire will be comfortable in millwork and commercial stores fixutres estimating as well. If you are looking for something different and custom furniture estimating to keep your daily interest, this is job for you.Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for an Estimator at By Quality in Vaughan, ON. The Estimator will be responsible for analyzing project specifications, requesting vendor bids, preparing cost estimates, collaborating with suppliers and contractors, conducting material takeoffs for production, and ensuring accuracy in budgeting and pricing. ResponsibilitiesOrganize bid packages, including specifications, conceptual images, and/or designer drawings.Prepare and format vendor PDF packages using Adobe for bidding.Send RFQs to approved suppliers within 24 hours of receiving the bid package.Follow up on pricing, ensuring a minimum of three quotes are obtained for review by the COO.Compile supplier quotes and prepare a final bid for By Quality's customer within 3-7 business days. Present all bids to the COO; multiple revisions may be required.Complete and submit all bid-related documents for approval.Maintain and update the vendor database, including records of vendor reviews.Present new vendors to upper management for approval. Accurately compile and present bid data and reports; conduct material takeoffs and provide comparisons to the team.Complete material takeoffs for orders as needed. Support the Design and Production teams during material planning to ensure accurate fabrication to the bid. Qualifications Proven experience in project estimating and cost analysis, ideally within the construction or furniture manufacturing industries.Strong understanding of materials, construction methods, and industry standards, with the ability to interpret technical specifications and drawings. Exceptional analytical and mathematical skills for precise cost breakdowns and budgeting. Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all financial and project estimates.Proficiency with software, such as ERPs, project management tools.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.Post-secondary Degree or Certificate in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, Architecture, Furniture Making, or a related field.
