The Role:

We are seeking a self-motivated, goal-driven, and detail-oriented Senior Designer who is excited to contribute to our growing team. In this hybrid role, you'll have the opportunity to work both remotely and onsite in our Vancouver office, providing you with flexibility and a diverse work environment.

You MUST live in the Lower Mainland, as this position requires you to be able to work onsite in our Vancouver office on a routine basis.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Product Development (70%)

  • Research fit trends, new construction methods, emerging technologies for product categories, and teach technical skills to other team members
  • Develop products, recommends materials, and construction techniques that meet design expectations and maximize gross margin targets
  • Leverage the pattern block library to maintain a consistent fit across the product group
  • Create technical flat sketches, styling details, construction diagrams, and size information for new products
  • Critique, adjust and evaluate design concepts and prototypes from a performance, manufacturing, and functional perspective, extend expertise to problem solve
  • Mentor development team by sharing & maximizing best practices, new methods, concepts & functional expertise
  • Advise raw material sourcing in fabric and mill selections considering development needs and cost
  • Assist in creation of new pattern blocks and grading rules for innovative design ideas
  • Communicate with vendors regarding contents of technical packages, including corrections to samples and patterns, garment construction details, grading, labeling, and shipping requirements
  • Interact daily with suppliers and vendors to problem solve all issues related to garment engineering

Project Management (30%)

  • Monitor order status and coordinate project details with sales and production teams in a timely manner
  • Generate purchase orders to production facilities
  • Makes recommendations to manufacturing, and planning to improve order, and production efficiency
  • Providing customer service through emails, and phone calls
  • Work with cross-functional teams to assure prompt and dependable services

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you need to have the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • BS degree in Textile & Apparel or similar preferred; or product development internship and completed Textile & Apparel courses
  • 5+ years apparel product development or design experience, with demonstrated program management experience
  • Strong working knowledge of fabrics, garment construction, fit and pattern development
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop
  • Highly organized, analytical and detail-oriented professional
  • Strong technical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and deliver results with excellent follow-through
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Must be flexible and able to take direction and have a willingness to learn
  • Comfortable working with the PLM system for POs, techpacks and factory communication
  • Respect for confidentiality practices
  • Hybrid role – you'll have the opportunity to work both remotely and onsite in our Vancouver office
  • Hours: Full-time, permanent position (minimum 40 hours per week)

Promptly provides information to management related to product development related issues. 

Compensation, Perks and Benefits

EdwardsX’s Total Rewards approach is a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes both individual and company performance. The?estimated base salary for this role is from $80,000 CAD and is based on factors including job-related knowledge, skills, relevant experience, education and/or training and internal equity. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus.
