Your Shangri-La awaits!We are currently searching for a Sales Manager with experience in Groups & Corporate Travel to join our Five Star team. This role will provide total account management to achieve strategic budgeted sales targets with an emphasis specifically on group travel (10 rooms or more). As the incumbent will be working directly with key accounts to develop business volumes for the hotel, they must be extremely self-motivated, possess excellent communication skills, and have a natural ability to aggressively solicit new accounts for Shangri-La Vancouver.SALARY RANGE: 75K - 85K (plus participation in our robust incentive program)PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESWith high integrity, strives to provide a luxury sales contact experience to guests and colleagues, while providing Shangri-La hospitality and five-star service in all interactions.Works closely with the events department to ensure maximization of available meeting space for group events (with rooms), and catering only events (without rooms).Demonstrates a high level of creativity, personal commitment to achieving sales targets and a sense of gracious hospitality.Participates in developing sales strategies, then execute actions to meet or exceed sales targets with an emphasis on securing corporate and small luxury group bookings from corporate accounts, associations, incentive companies, and meeting planners.Develop and maintain prioritized prospecting of new accounts, local, regional and international clientele, using market information, resources and networking opportunities, focusing on short-term business and long-term growth.Develop and executes sales and marketing tactics to meet and exceed sales target.Total account management of Preferred Corporate Accounts, managing key corporate travel agencies and ensuring the success of the RFP season.Work closely with travel agencies focused on MICE and live entertainment/tour business.Effectively communicates the value of luxury through presentations, FAM trips, site inspections, participation in tradeshows, client entertainment and all potential client interactions.Participate in sales mission, conferences and promotional events in Canada and Internationally.Develop a strong relationship with all the Shangri-La Regional Sales Offices and sister hotels to facilitate cross-selling opportunities of 100+ Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts worldwide.Strong prospecting and relationship building skills, ensuring clients have a luxury experience with the brand throughout the sales cycle.Prepare and submit timely monthly reports to Director of Sales and Marketing. Recognize and include communication of market trends and competitive intelligence.Maintains positive and detailed ongoing communication with all departments in the hotel, participates in regular sales and revenue meetings.Maintain accurate sales records including detailed action plans and reports.Professionally represent the hotel in community, industry organization and events.Ensures compliance to all hotel policies, standards and procedures, core values and guiding principles.Undertakes other ad hoc related responsibilities, as required.THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE THE FOLLOWING SKILLSET:Sales Competence – Demonstrates sound understanding for the group and corporate business travel market, effective sales strategies for respective market segment, vast knowledge of the core competition and luxury hotel standards.Results driven – Self-motivated, high initiative, self-starter, and strives to continually over achieve sales goals.Relationship & Impression Management - Outstanding abilities to build and maintain relationships and demonstrated ability to make a naturally positive, lasting impression.Goal oriented and Organizational skills– Able to plan, set and achieve goals on a continual basis, demonstrating superior organizational and time management skills.Emotional maturity - Internally proud, outwardly gracious and humble, a genuine ability to demonstrate our core values of respect, sincerity, thoughtfulness, courtesy and humility.Teamwork & Respectful workplace – Friendly and helpful demeanour that fosters a respectful environment for others, with an ability to work well within a small, tight-knit sales team, as well as with all other internal colleagues.Communication – Excellent verbal and written communication with 100% fluency in English, displaying standards in line with our expectations though appearance, manners, language and interactions.Ethical conduct and responsibility – Sets a positive example and fulfills responsibilities with the highest integrity, ethics and professionalism.Technology proficiency– Fully competent with Windows based computer technology/systems.OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE POSSESSES THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:Applicants must have minimum 2 years previous work experience in a similar sales capacity with demonstrated results.Previous commensurate experience within another luxury brand is an asset.Previous experience within the Vancouver market is preferred.Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills are required.Ability to travel internationally for trade shows, sales calls, and conferences, as required.A valid passport with no restrictions.Shangri-La Vancouver is unable to assist international applicants with obtaining the legal right to work in Canada.
