Financial Director/Controller Job description *** Please read entire Job Description carefully before sending in your application * We are looking for someone with 5 years experience as a financial controller role Yumi Organics is looking for a Financial Director/Controller to join our ever-growing team! You will work directly with the president and be responsible in making sure our financial budgets and forecasts are respected and cashflow carefully monitored. You will work closely with Sales and Supply Chain to approve production, inventory levels, promotions and tradespend. You will build strong internal control procedures and policies and oversee our bookkeeper. About Yumi: Our vision is to become the brand name known for Overnight Oats and to build out this subcategory of cereal as the number one leading brand. We are currently sold in over 3000+ retail stores across Canada, including Walmart, Loblaws, Metro, Save on Foods and Sobeys. Our products are also sold on Amazon and our own E-commerce platforms. Our territories to focus on this year is the US and Australian Markets. We are a Montreal-based Overnight Oats company founded by a certified nutritionist, whose goal is to make healthy eating easy, fun and delicious, starting with the most important meal of the day: breakfast! ;) We are the first in Canada to launch a line of Overnight Oats to retail, and we are very excited to be the first to launch a line of Probiotic Trail Mixes & Super Seeds in Canada as well! Our new line of Instant Oatmeals have ranked top 50 on Neilson in under a year and we are in a fun growth trajectory to bring a sleepy category to life. About the Job (Who we are looking for): We are looking for someone with experience as a financial controller or director with a background in finance or accounting and be responsible for monthly and year-end statements. We need someone who has experience and is confident in making high level decisions and insights. We need a passionate, self-driven individual who loves business growth and is technology-savvy. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Prepare on time and with accuracy our monthly financial statements quarterly tax returns and annual financial statements Work with external accountants for annual filing Work with supply chain and accounting to validate month end inventory and numbers Manages daily, weekly and monthly budget to forecast Monitors our daily cashflow and opportunities to adjust for improvements Build weekly and monthly reports to the president Support with financial analysis and suggestions to guide business decisions Build and use analytical tools for a deep financial analysis to identify opportunities and risk Build and maintain strong internal systems of control and processes Approve production, sales promotions and supports cashflow for new sales accounts Oversee day to day accounting staff and is responsible for accuracy in AR/AP, Payroll adjustments Ensure compliance with all accounting standards and manage all audits for income tax returns Filing and management of grants received Oversee cashflow and ensure any corrective actions taken if necessary Ensure great documentation and filing internally Investigate and follow through on any disputes for AR/AP Proactive in catching any discrepancies and opportunities for improvement Love implementing technological systems to optimize efficiency Work with fractional CFO from the industry to strengthen our financials Validate and keep strict control on all deductions and credits (Manufacture charge backs) JOB REQUIREMENTS (What you need to excel in this position): Experience with financial statements, general leger, month end/year end processes 10 years experience in accounting with 5 years on-hand experience as a controller or finance director Proven experience in Financial management roles CPA, CA Experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry, ideally food industry Advanced knowledge of Excel and functions, able to create strong financial models Enjoys technology, automation tools and other avenues to optimize processes Strong proficiencies with Quickbooks and ability to adapt to new softwares Experience with ERP systems and implementation Ability to track quickly and accurately budget with different departments Ability to conduct investigations and build reports Essential Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail and performance with accuracy Excellent problem solving and analytical skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills Time management Ability to learn quickly Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion Ability to work well under pressure and handle tight timelines Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Tech-Savvy Great leader and team player Proactive, self directed and loves business growth!
