Tourmaline is both Canada’s largest natural gas producer and the lowest net emissions and intensity senior producer. Tourmaline is focused on long-term growth through an aggressive exploration, development, production, and acquisition program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. Tourmaline has assembled an extensive undeveloped land position with a large, multi-year drilling inventory and operating control of important natural gas processing and transportation infrastructure in three core long-term growth areas: the Alberta Deep Basin, NEBC Montney, and Peace River Triassic Oil.The OpportunityTourmaline’s geoscience summer internships are designed to provide a comprehensive foundational knowledge of the Canadian energy industry while allowing students to practically apply geoscience skills learned in school. Tourmaline is a geoscience-focused company that provides students with the chance to work alongside industry experts and learn the teamwork and work ethic it takes to be a part of Canada’s largest natural gas producer. Students will learn about the Canadian energy industry from the inside, working with geologists, geophysicists, and engineers to experience firsthand the excitement of prospect generation and geologic interpretation.Our students will be placed in a position that will give them exposure to many aspects of being professional geoscientists, including field trips, geologic exploration, reservoir characterization, development, and operations.ResponsibilitiesGeologic mapping and play generationWireline log analysisCore, thin section, and well chip analysisIdentifying new opportunities for well locationsMulti-disciplinary integration (e.g. geophysics, geology, petrophysics, etc.)QualificationsMust be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorshipMust be currently enrolled in a university Geoscience program (BSc or MSc in Geology or Geophysics)Preference will be given to students who have completed their 2nd year of undergraduate studiesMust be enrolled as a student through December 2025Effective written and oral communication and presentation skillsStrong work ethic and ability to take pride and ownership of workProactive and self-motivated with the ability to work individually and in team settingsExposure to mapping software such as Kingdom, GeoGraphix, Accumap, and Petra is considered an assetWorking ConditionsThis is a 4-month Calgary-based position, working in person in an office environmentMay include trips to core facilities, field operations visits, and other geologic field tripsApplyPlease submit resumes and transcripts to [email protected] with the subject line “Geoscience Summer Student Posting” by October 15, 2024Note: New graduates and professionals are not eligible for student opportunitiesInterviewsStudents selected for an interview will be contacted to arrange a suitable interview time.
