Position Description Public Relations Team Lead Reporting to the Corporate Communications Manager, the Public Relations Team Lead is responsible for driving the ACSA public and media relations strategies to enhance the Association's reputation, increase awareness of construction safety, and support the pursuit of the ACSA's strategic plan. The Team Lead will create impactful communication and media strategies, build relationships with association publications, and oversee the Public Relations/media relations activities, along with the daily operations of the Corporate Communications team. The location for this position is Edmonton. Key Responsibilities • Strategic planning and implementation: Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive public and media relations strategies. Create impactful communication plans to enhance brand awareness and visibility for the ACSA. • Media relations: Establish and maintain strong relationships with local, national, and trade media outlets. Act as a spokesperson for the Association, effectively communicating programs, accomplishments, and awareness campaigns. Provide expert advice and support on media relations to ACSA's senior administration and staff. • Content creation and management: Oversee the creation of engaging and informative content for various platforms, including websites, social media, and print. Ensure the production of high-quality content that aligns with the ACSA's strategic objectives. • Team leadership and development: Lead and mentor communications team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. Oversee the team's effectiveness by executing communication strategies and plans. • Internal communications: Align internal communications with emerging topics, construction progress, and milestones reached across the Association. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to communicate programs, accomplishments, and awareness campaigns effectively. • Budget management: Manage budgets for specific media campaigns, ensuring cost-effective and impactful use of resources. • Performance monitoring: Track and report on the performance of communication strategies and media relations efforts. Adjust strategies as needed to achieve desired outcomes. Candidate Profile Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Education • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Public Relations or Communications or a related field. Knowledge • 5 - 7 years of related experience. • 2 - 3 years of experience in a leadership/mentor role. • Strategic thinker with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. • Proven track record of developing and executing communications, PR & media relations strategies. • Knowledge of traditional and digital media and content management systems. • Experience with issues/crisis management communication is an asset. • Familiarity with relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards related to training and education. Skills & Abilities • Leadership: Ability to work interdependently as a strong and contributing member in a team environment and acting as a role model. • Creative thinking: Developing innovative and impactful communication strategies that enhance brand visibility and resonate with diverse audiences. • Relationships: Effectively build and maintain strong, positive connections with media outlets, internal stakeholders, and industry partners to promote and advance the ACSA's mission and initiatives. • Complexity: Ability to balance strategic planning with day-to-day operations, managing diverse media relations, creating engaging content across multiple platforms, leading a dynamic team, and aligning internal and external communications with the Association's goals, all within the constraints of budget management and evolving industry trends. • Project/process management: Overseeing the development and execution of comprehensive communication plans, coordinating media campaigns, managing content production schedules, ensuring timely delivery of communication materials, and continuously monitoring and optimizing communication strategies to meet organizational objectives and deadlines.
