You thrive in an environment that enjoys challenging the status quo and where your innovative and data focused technical skills are complemented by your high emotional intelligence.You are highly focused and recognize when a new career path forward presents itself to you.ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY – Lead through a Transformative TimeThe Senior Vice President, Exploration and Resources will act as a key executive leader responsible for leading and delivering on the Company’s exploration and mineral resource growth strategy and related technical activities, while fostering an ongoing commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development. In this role, and through leading an established senior level team, you will provide strategic and technical expertise and advice to CEO and Executive team on matters relevant to the Company’s exploration program. You will be a key and valued contributor to the long-term success of the organization and uphold the Wesdome standards of excellence in exploration and organic resource development.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESA DAY IN THE LIFE of the Senior Vice President, Exploration and Resources at WesdomeBusiness Executive. Works closely with the President & CEO to formulate the Company’s future direction, strategic Exploration objectives, business strategies and supporting tactical initiatives; and monitors and directs the implementation of strategic business plans.Exploration Strategist. Fosters a culture of ‘innovation’ throughout the Company to support business growth plans; plans and directs the Company’s exploration activities; prepares and implements a consolidated exploration plan and budget; achieves the Company’s exploration goals within budget; oversees preparation of NI 43-101 Resource Technical reports as required.Versatile and Adaptable Business and Technical Leader. Delivers relevant presentations to the Board; participates in Executive team strategic planning sessions; reviews hands-on technical data and analysis from engineering and subject matter expert teams including life of mine inputs and economic estimates; participates in mine site team building and safety related training and activities.Technologist. Stays informed and shares relevant geoscience and technologic advances, as well as emerging tools, technologies and innovations, relevant to exploration strategy and program. Collaborator. Provides analysis and support to coordinate corporate-wide initiatives such as corporate development and merger and acquisition due diligence, business planning and other strategic initiatives. Participates in investor conferences and conferences, as needed.Subject Matter Expert. Provides strategic and technical Exploration and Resource advice to CEO and Executive team.Steward of the Organization. Oversees and ensures the exploration team conducts geological, geophysical and engineering tasks to the highest standards and drives program direction, while staying informed on project activity, progress and reporting activities; provides oversight of ore reconciliation at sites from exploration drilling to mining to recovered gold and of mine scale (i.e. brownfields) exploration drilling; oversees quality assurance and quality control, data management, preparation of geological models and associated information to ensure the Company’s exploration plans deliver valid information for use in NI 43-101 compliant resource statements, preliminary economic assessments and feasibility studies.Mine Site Leadership. Provides technical and skills development support to the mining sites in all aspects of mine geology including mine exploration, annual mineral resource and reserve reporting, ore reconciliation, database management, standardization of procedures between sites and QA/QC, with a focus on implementing best practices as well as aligning and standardizing technical reporting.Team Leader / Coach / Mentor. Manages directly and indirectly reporting staff and external consultants, oversees team hiring decisions and participates in coaching, mentoring, development, performance management and all other people-management practices; and fosters a highly productive and rewarding collaborative work environment for all employees.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree in Geology or related; post graduate program considered an asset.Professional Geologist (P.Geo.) designation is required;15+ years of progressive mining experience with a strong emphasis in exploration, discovery, mineral economics, resource estimation, strategy and leadership;Demonstrated experience in geology and developing and evaluating gold deposit models;Strong experience in technical evaluations of external opportunities of both large scale producing and development assets;In depth technical experience in exploration for gold deposits and exploration methodologies;Ability to deliver high level concise business focused presentations and reports;Previous experience at the executive level, with experience interacting with a board. Strong strategic mining acumen and experience;Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills and ability to build a strong team-based environment;A personal profile and reputation for inspiring teams and developing people, with a proven track record of creating a corporate culture based on open communication, collaboration and transparency;Commercially astute with excellent data and business analysis skills;English / French (bilingual) language skills an asset;Ability and willingness to travel to mining sites in remote communities.Valid driver’s license required.LOCATION and LOGISTICS of the ROLEThis position is located at head office in downtown Toronto, ON;Regular travel to mine sites, events, conferences etc., as required by business needs.Wesdome prides itself on being an equal opportunity employer committed to responsible mining practices and building a diverse and inclusive workforce.
