Our client is a successful and well-established real estate developer looking to hire aFinancial Controller on a full-time-on-site basis.

About the Role:
The Financial Controller will play a crucial role in overseeing their accounting, financial reporting, and project financing activities. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Responsible for full cycle of accounting, AR, AP, job costing, and ensuring the integrity of the accounting records, month end closing, intercompany reconciliations, intercompany billings, journal entries, bank reconciliation, government remittances, annual financial statements, maintain cash flow, loan list and Load Draws.
  • Maintain files for property acquisitions, update project loans, maintain project lots closing, job costing analysis.
  • Review loan agreements, prepare financing papers for loan applications, Insurance reconciliations.
  • Review timesheets, file annual T4s, T5018, monthly filing of EHT and WSIB, employee benefit maintenance, track vacation records
  • Update procedure handbooks for the accounting team

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field and CPA, CA designation
  • Min 10 years’ experience in Financial Accounting with at least 3 years’ in a leadership capacity
  • Team management abilities to oversee the accounting team and collaborate with otherDepartments
  • Experience dealing with multiple entities/companies
  • Proven experience in full cycle accounting, job costing, payroll & benefits, and financial reporting
  • Familiarity with accounting software systems - specific to real estate development or construction ideal
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Strong project management capabilities
  • Able to identify areas for process improvement and implement streamlined business processes
  • A proactive attitude towards updating and enhancing accounting knowledge
  • Willingness to adapt to changing regulations and industry best practices
