Duties Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada is seeking to hire one (1) Manager of Engineering to join the Faro Mine Remediation Project Team in Whitehorse, YT as our Operations Manager to work on the remediation of the Faro Mine Complex, one of Canada’s largest and most complex mine site remediations. The Operations Team Engineering Manager will lead a team of Engineers that is responsible for supporting the delivery of ongoing site care, maintenance, and implementation of remediation work at the Faro Mine. This role is part of an integrated project team with staff located in Whitehorse, YT and the National Capital Region. The Operations Engineering Manager will work collaboratively with other Managers and teams including Engineering Design, Regulatory, Engagement, Governance, and Project Controls and with Indigenous Partners and other stakeholders to support planning and delivery of remedial work over what is anticipated to be a 12-15 year project delivery time horizon. Minimum Requirements Education: Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, mining engineering, geological engineering, environmental engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position. Experience: Significant experience providing engineering support on complex projects. Significant experience in all phases of project management of construction or engineering projects (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure). Significant experience providing strategic and technical advice and recommendations to senior management on complex engineering issues or projects. Experience collaborating with various stakeholders and establishing and maintaining partnerships. Experience managing human and financial resources. Conditions of Employment Secret security clearance is required. If relocation is necessary, the incumbent and their dependents must obtain Health Canada medical clearance in accordance with the Isolated Posts and Government Housing Directive.
