Reporting to the area manager and the clinical supervisor, this position entails providing assessment, diagnosis, case management and treatment by way of mental health therapy to clients of all ages. As a Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to perform the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed treatment, crisis intervention, consultation, and case management. The position works with children and adults, community agencies, other members of the mental health and addictions team as well as the multidisciplinary team at large. The Mental Health Therapist will also be involved in case conferences, staff meetings, professional development activities, liaison with community partners, provide support with students and new staff orientation and other related duties as required. This position also includes supporting the mental health clinic with intakes, hospital consults and crisis intervention as needed. New Graduates welcome to apply. As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.
Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Bachelor’s degree in social work, registered nurse or registered psychiatric nurse will be considered. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024.
