IN-HOUSE PARALEGAL 

As an In-House Paralegal at Kainos, you will be responsible for performing a variety of legal tasks and escalating issues where appropriate to support the Company in its business activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Negotiating, reviewing, and drafting contracts and commercial terms with customers and suppliers to reflect commercial deals.

• Ability to assist on a wide range of cross jurisdictional legal matters.

• Ability to research and upskill in new and developing areas of law.

• Ability to understand and implement commercial review process.

• Ability to understand and assess risk and provide pragmatic suggestions to address risk.

• Reviewing tender documentation and bid process across the public and private sectors.

• Ensure compliance with legal developments and recognises and raises legal compliance issues. 

 • Understanding and advising on legal aspects of Company policies and initiatives.

• Assisting Group General Counsel, Chief Legal Officer and CFO as required.

ESSENTIAL Requirements:

· Licensed by the Law Society of Ontario to work as a paralegal in Ontario

· At least 3 years experience in a legal/commercial environment. 

· Experience drafting contracts, along with excellent communication, and negotiation skills.

· Demonstrable general commercial/corporate law experience or IT law experience. 

· Good commercial awareness and understanding of project and business. 

· Ability to work with minimal supervision and escalate matters where necessary.

· Ability to work efficiently and prioritise your workloads in a fast-paced environment, delivering a high level of accuracy and attention to detail within tight timeframes.

· A self-starter who can work on their own initiatives with minimal supervision and escalate matters when necessary. 

· Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with both staff and external stakeholders.

· We all work in teams here in Kainos – a proven ability of strong team skills, including taking direction from others, is crucial.

· Highly flexible, including willingness to work flexible hours at peak times.

· Concise, articulate, analytical and enthusiastic.

· Business and pragmatic focus approach to work with positive attitude.

· Conscientious, approachable, and credible.

DESIRABLE: 

• Legal studies and/or business education at the university or college level

• Familiarity within some, or all, of the following areas of law: IT/IP, Procurement Law, commercial contracts to include drafting, reviewing, and/or negotiating IT contracts.

• Experience training and delegating to more junior staff.
