Director, Community Relations (French Services)Position Title: Director, Community Relations (French Services)Status of Employment: PermanentPosition Language Requirement: English, FrenchLanguage Skills: English (Reading - B - Intermediate), English (Speaking - B - Intermediate), English (Writing - B - Intermediate), French (Reading), French (Speaking), French (Writing)Your role:As Director, Community Relations, you will advise the News division as to the application of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices (JSP). You will also be asked to initiate or contribute to thinking on their scope, interpretation and development. Furthermore, you will draft considered responses to complaints about TV, radio and digital content produced by Radio-Canada News and Current Affairs in compliance with our JSP.To succeed in this role, you must have outstanding knowledge and understanding of all News and Current Affairs programming available across our platforms, including stories, articles and shows. A solid grasp of the journalistic processes behind the production of this content is essential.This role will also see you represent Radio-Canada on the Quebec Press Council to assist with complaints handling and Board of Directors activities.In addition, you will be asked to share your expertise and counsel with other Radio-Canada divisions (Regional Services, Radio and Audio, Television, etc.) and will be in regular contact with your CBC colleagues in similar positions.Lastly, you will work with News and Current Affairs management to ensure employee compliance with the JSP and Code of Conduct.What you bring:Qualifications:University degree in journalism or a relevant fieldAt least ten (10) years’ journalism experienceExperience working in a news department is a highly desirable assetSkills:Superior editorial judgment and thorough understanding of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and PracticesSuperior knowledge of journalistic processes and newsgathering methods as well as the production of stories, programs and content for TV, radio and digital platformsExcellent command of French and superior writing skillsExtensive current-events knowledge and strong analytical skillsKnowledge of the media and communications industryHighly developed interpersonal and conflict-resolution skillsAbility to work well under pressure and handle multiple developing storiesAbility to work independentlyExcellent writing abilityGood knowledge of spoken and written EnglishCandidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.CBC/Radio-Canada is committed to being a leader in reflecting our country’s diversity.
