7moWhenever I want to attract some hate, I mention how in the AEC industry......we do not need 2D drawings! And here is why: I have no problems with floor plans and building sections. We are used to looking at buildings like that and even I prefer to look at the 2D floor plan myself in order to understand it.What I am talking about is this...The industry is creating 3D models of buildings until a certain (rough) level of detail (LOD 200 or something like that) and then manually creating hundreds of 2D drawings in order to explain everything that is not in that model.We are translating From 3D to 2D and then back to 3D (building). For me, this does not make sense and it is a huuuuge waste of time and intelligence.Why not just make a detailed 3D model and stop wasting time with manual drafting? Everything can be automated and 3D is much more easier to read than 2D...I can hear the anger coming...but let it come...I think 3D->3D is the future and should be the present :)#bim #aec #developer Stay free!https://lnkd.in/eXwufthP

7moWe can’t escape 2D drawing similar to paper and pen. The link up our brain for creative, our hand is still the best dictator. However for information exchange and sharing, digital is the most efficient. And #bim embed all geometric and non-geometric information under the same platform is the best for collaboration. 2D - 3D - 2D -….is still today’s working environment. What we have to do is to optimise each working mode to avoid duplication and rework. Because we are living in a hybrid environment. And the trend is digitisation!
