The Windsor, Ontario office of Miller Canfield LLP is currently seeking a highly motivated mid-level associate to join our Labour and Employment Group. The successful applicant will work closely with leading lawyers and be involved in all aspects of the Labour and Employment Group practice. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients, handle complex employment litigation, represent employers in labour arbitrations, and build your practice. Key Requirements

  1. At least 3+ years of post-call experience with a focus on Labour and Employment Law;
  2. Excellent academic and professional credentials;
  3. Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario;
  4. Strong analytical, oral, and written communication and drafting skills;
  5. A demonstrated commitment to teamwork and client service excellence; and
  6. Prior litigation experience is an asset.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Drafting employment agreements, workplace policies, employee handbooks, and other employment related documents;
  2. Providing guidance to clients on human resource matters including accommodations, terminations, hirings, and a range of workplace issues;
  3. Conducting workplace investigations and coordinating workplace investigations for clients;
  4. Providing support on, or taking carriage of, contentious employment law matters and labour matters;
  5. Instructing staff and ensuring that files continue to progress;
  6. Managing files where appropriate with assistance from senior counsel and staff;
  7. Assisting senior counsel with complex matters;
  8. Keeping consistent notes and records of all matters; and
  9. Conducting research and assisting litigation counsel.
