Job Summary:
The Human Resources Coordinator provides administrative and coordination support to one or more human resources (HR) functions, including recruiting, employee/labour relations, compensation, benefits, training, payroll administration support, HRIS updates, and/or maintaining employee records. The Human Resources Coordinator processes HR department invoices and billing, employment and enrollment applications; maintains employment records, and compiles statistics for various HR management reports. This individual may also conduct pre-employment screening interviews, check references, respond to routine questions on HR policies, assist in maintaining compliance in accordance with Federal and Provincial legislation, and be tasked with ad hoc HR projects. The Human Resources Coordinator reports to the Human Resources Country Manager and may support other HR team members with various projects or tasks.
The Human Resources Coordinator will provide HR operational services throughout our Canadian business operations, which spans coast to coast with 25+ locations and approximately 1,100 Team Partners.
Job Detail:
Facilitates the processes that support various functional areas within Human Resources. Monitors compliance with applicable Federal and local laws and regulations from other applicable agencies including notifying managers of potential issues, and may propose corrective action in collaboration with HR Country Manager.
Organizes the new hire and onboarding processes, including review of company policies, collection and processing of new hire paperwork, and completion of orientation.
Schedules and monitors various training programs.
Receives and addresses employee questions regarding company policies, procedures and benefit plans, and monitors department emails.
Compiles and maintains personnel files. Records employee status updates such as change of address, departmental transfers, rate increases and terminations, in the HR Information Systems. Assists in the administration of employee benefit programs, including paid time off, and payroll.
Provide support and assistance to the HR Country Manager on various HR department projects, strategies, and initiatives.
Coordinates alignment of business objectives with team partners and management in designated business unit(s).
Drives consistency of procedures throughout the Canadian locations.
Supports in the creation of country specific employee communications as required.
Coordinate with Talent Acquisition team to publish new job listings to internal and external job boards, create postings and job descriptions, phone screen candidates, schedule interviews with hiring managers, and coordinate with external recruitment agencies from time to time.
Assist in the coordination of background screening, license verification, and reference checks of candidates.
This role requires a willingness to travel nationally throughout Canada, and internationally to UniFirst locations in the United States. Travel requirement is up to 5%-10% (future obligation with consideration of external factors).

Requirements
Experience:
Must be fluent in English
2 - 5 years’ experience within Human Resources
Experience with supporting a unionized workforce is a plus
Ability to demonstrate, influence, and impact at a high level
Excellent communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Digital literacy
Persuasive and resilient
Able to find innovative solutions to difficult problems
Good teamwork & team leader skills
Relevant industry experience considered a plus
Experience with PeopleSoft is a plus
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000
