ENROLMENT & COMMUNICATIONS

Are you a natural story teller? A people-person? Can you walk into a room and introduce yourself to people you've never met? We're looking for one term Student Recruiters (Edmonton & Area) who can build relationships, using public speaking and sales strategies to focus on domestic prospective students, combining a strong understanding of the Alberta high school to post-secondary pathways.

Reporting to the Manager, Student Recruiter supports enrolment targets through identifying, informing, and recruiting prospective students and key influencers about and for NorQuest College and our programs, courses, and services. By establishing, developing, and managing relationships with key community schools, partners, and agencies, the Student Recruiter attracts and supports prospective learners and hosts organized recruitment events including trade and career shows, information sessions, Open Houses, Information Nights, presentations for schools, communities, agencies, and college tours.

The Student Recruiter understands how to listen, adapt, and learn about a prospective student's individual needs and apply those needs to what the College offers. They understand how to speak clearly and persuasively to keep students engaged and aware of what NorQuest can provide for their future. The Student Recruiter practices empathy, they can more readily understand a prospective student's situation and how they can best pitch a course or program to that prospective student.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Participate in the planning and execution of the recruitment plans to reach the target audience for: high schools, settlement, community, and cultural organizations
  • Attend recruitment events throughout the region, such as tradeshows, career fairs, community events, information sessions, presentations for high schools, communities and agencies
  • Organize, direct, and participate in internal recruitment activities, events and activities including the annual Open House and Information Night, Fall and Spring Breakfasts, and college tours.
  • Recruit applicants through individuals and group information sessions.
  • Recruit current NorQuest students in foundational programs to ladder into post-secondary and other relevant programs.
  • Document and report on recruitment tactics
  • Establish and manage positive working relationships with external schools, counselors, teachers, instructors, agencies, front-line government agents, counselors, communities, industry, and others for the purposes of recruiting students to NorQuest College
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate two influencer breakfasts a year (one for high school counsellors and the other for community representatives)
  • Build, maintain, and update influencer contact information lists through our customer relationship management (CRM) system
  • Provide information, outreach, and responses to inquiries from influencers regarding programs, requirements, student services, college information, and career options using printed materials, email, letters, presentations, and face-to-face discussions on a regular basis
  • Collaborate and participate in organizing committees with other post-secondary institutions such as Educational Liaison Association of Alberta (ELAA)
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with other post-secondary institutions for the purposes of understanding and sharing information on transferability and laddering to and from NorQuest College programs and other institutions
  • Develop and maintain strong, positive working relationships throughout the college to understand and communicate college programs and services information to prospects and influencers
  • Develop and execute conversion strategies and applicant follow-up
  • Promote alternative program options that have not met capacity targets to waitlisted applicants
  • Understand cross-cultural issues that affect our student population in an effort to remove barriers and improve student retention and success
  • Regularly review information on labour market demands/trends that can/may affect recruitment efforts and the advice offered to prospective students

  WHAT YOU BRING 

  • University degree in a related field, or a Diploma is preferred
  • Experience and comfort public speaking, ideally experience in a customer-service and/or sales role
  • Post-secondary experience would be considered an asset
  • An understanding of entrance requirements and/or career
  • Clean criminal record check within the last 30-days
  • Availability including evenings and weekends. Extensive travel, including out-of-town, may be required
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and vehicle
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint at an intermediate-to-expert level
  • Experience using CRM systems and social media platforms

SALARY: $2,078 - $2,700 bi-weekly, reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. This is a full-time term position ending September 5, 2025, with immediate access to our great benefits.
