What will you do?

The Human Resource (HR) Generalist provides a key support role for a broad range of HumanResources activities. The HR Generalist position is responsible for the delivery programsincluding Occupational Health and Safety and Wellness and AODA. This position will providehuman resources business partner support to leaders and employees as required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensures AODA Policy is adhered to by completing audits and review of organizationalpractices and programs, including talent acquisition.
  • Leads the AODA Committee, prepares, and delivers reports as required.
  • Remains current on requirements and amendments to the Occupational Health & SafetyAct (OHSA) and Regulations.
  • Provides support and advice as necessary to support all Champlain Joint Health andSafety Committees to ensure compliance with requirements under the OHSA.
  • Coordinates health, safety and wellness activities and training.
  • Maintains various tracking spreadsheets for Labour-related metrics (grievance tracking,discipline tracking etc.); obtaining updates from HR Business Partner as required.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of programs and activities, ensuringcompliance with policies and procedures, employment legislation, and collectiveagreements.
  • Coordinates employee termination processes; conducts exit interviews.
  • Ensures coordination and smooth transition in the on-boarding of new employees withinassigned client business units.
  • Support HROD data collection and analysis efforts, as required.
  • Supports return-to-work efforts, including participating in return-to-work meetings, etc.
  • Supports team and managers acting in an advisory capacity for various HROD matters.

What must you have?

Educational Qualifications & Experience:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in business administration, humanresources, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a similar role in Human Resources that is normally attainedover one year.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience as deemed appropriateby HCCSS Champlain may be considered.
  • Bilingualism is an asset

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply Collective Agreements.
  • Knowledge of recruitment and HR best practices.
  • Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), as well asApplicant Tracking Systems (ATS) is desirable

Skills and Abilities:

  • Expert computer skills (MS Office Suite)
  • Ability to recognize, handle and protect highly sensitive and confidentialinformation
  • Effective writing, proofreading and editing skills.
  • Liaises with and fosters mutually respectful relationships with a variety of internalcontacts and manages client expectations under the direction of the Manager,Human Resources.
  • Superior time management skills to coordinate multiple demands simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to actively listen to questions and concerns of both internal candidates andhiring Managers.
  • Ability to coordinate efficient communication between Managers when they arenegotiating move dates for internal transfers. This involves initiating thediscussion and ensuring a decision is made in a timely manner.

Hours of Work:Monday to Friday – 8:30am to 4:30pm (37.5hrs/week)Position Location:There may be flexibility to work in one of our other offices in the Champlain region from timeto time; however, the base office will be at our head office on Labelle Street.
