Note: This is a full-time position directly reporting to the Centre Director; pay rate as agreed, based on experience, expertise, and applicable education.

POSITION SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of this hybrid position is to supervise and provide coordination of client care in the areas of Client Life and Work Therapy while also assisting the kitchen. The incumbent will aid in client success by promoting an environment that is supportive, nurturing and safe while ensuring that the physical needs of clients are met, and that they are participating in the required areas of the Teen Challenge Program and fulfilling their assigned duties.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Life

  • Perform Admission of applicants into the Teen Challenge Program, welcoming the applicant, providing orientation during the Orientation Period, and administer all forms and consents
  • Attend to all legal matters, including communications with external legal parties
  • Enrol and administer any social service support programs available to the client
  • Ensure all timely client scheduling, communications and coordination of off-site and on-site client activities, through the client database
  • Provide daily processing, communication & coordination of client requests, passes & visits
  • Coordinate all client appointments (legal, medical, dental, etc.) for approvals, transportation, communications and scheduling
  • Coordination of staff requests for client activities (outreach, special events, etc.)
  • Provide oversight to client needs and requests (haircuts, clothing, & other personal needs) including bed assignments and dormitory needs
  • Coordinate all client after-hours activities and client affairs as needed
  • Coordinate client affairs with other staff as needed
  • Oversee the Discipline Policy and the administration of procedures
  • Coordinate client compliance with all Program policy and procedures
  • Administer the client bank, including safeguarding and security, reconciliation, distribution and other related procedures in regards to client money, according to Teen Challenge guidelines and Accounting’s policies
  • Manage client personal effects storage
  • Maintain and oversee the discharge procedures for clients departing the program
  • Participate in various departmental operational duties, tasks and meetings

Work Therapy

  • Provide clients with daily work assignments and ensure any necessary daily work assignment are filled
  • Supervise clients as they carry out Work Therapy tasks and assignments to ensure work objectives are met in a manner that is consistent with Teen Challenge’s program
  • Communicate with other appropriate staff, any client-related absences or changes to the Work Therapy schedule that may occur
  • Resolve any conflicts that may occur with respect and integrity
  • Mentor and guide clients based upon Biblical scriptures and principles
  • Provide feedback to Addictions Counsellors related to client behaviour
  • Assist, coach, train, and develop a strong kitchen team comprised of staff, clients and volunteers, within a kitchen environment
  • Creating recipes and adhere to safety procedures and regulations of food preparation
  • Work efficiently and effectively to gather, wash, cut, season, cook, prepare and store quality ingredients, and ensure the sanitation of work area in adherence with Public Health regulations
  • Work closely alongside other non-profits to procure new donations and purchase food to ensure meals can be made on a targeted budget
  • Schedule kitchen staff in accordance with business demands and trends
  • Assist petty cash accounts and monthly reconciliation related to monthly kitchen budget
  • Create and implement the client menu and meal plan in adherence with the Canadian Food Guide to ensure that basic dietary requirements are met on a daily basis, and special attention is given to food allergies and sensitivities
  • Schedule and coordinate all food and meal preparations and requests for special events and/or catering opportunities
  • Order appropriate chemicals and materials, and ensure inventory lists are up-to-date and food is fully stocked, while overseeing the safe storage and disposal of food and beverages
  • Receive incoming donations based upon determined viability
  • Assist / oversee temperature check of food, fridges, freezers and dishwasher

Health and Safety

  • Ensure compliance with current Health and Safety regulations and WHMIS requirements
  • Oversee monthly first aid and health and safety inspections and replace contents as necessary toensure compliance with current First Aid regulations
  • Exercise the Internal Responsibility System (IRS) on a regular basis, by identifying and reporting risks and hazards as they arise
  • Responsible for proper inventory of cleaning materials and supplies, and ensure compliance with WHMIS
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness at all times within the kitchen and storage areas, cleaning the kitchen equipment carefully and safely to prevent damage or injury
  • Ensure each client has adequate training on Work Therapy procedures
  • Provide clients appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and equip clients with the knowledge and proper instructions to complete daily assigned tasks and use of any equipment
  • Ensure compliance with current laws and legislation pertaining to Health and Safety legislation
