Tasks

  1. Plan and control budget and expenditures
  2. Plan, develop, implement and evaluate human resources policies and programs
  3. Train staff
  4. Advise managers and employees on the interpretation of human resources policies, benefit programs and collective agreements
  5. Establish and implement policies and procedures
  6. Mediate labour disputes and grievances
  7. Oversee the classification and rating of occupations
  8. Plan, develop and implement recruitment strategies
  9. Research and prepare occupational classifications, job descriptions and salary scales
  10. Administer benefit employment equity and other human resources programs
  11. Manage contracts
  12. Co-ordinate employee performance and appraisal programs
  13. Manage training and development strategies
  14. Oversee the analysis of employee data and information
  15. Research employee benefits and health and safety practices and recommend changes
  16. Oversee development of communication strategies
  17. Oversee the preparation of reports
  18. Advise senior management
  19. Respond to employee questions and complaints
  20. Hire, train and supervise staff
  21. Liaise with management, union officials and HR consultants
  22. Negotiate collective agreements on behalf of employers or workers
  23. Organize staff consultation and grievance procedures
  24. Oversee payroll administration
  25. Provide customer service
  26. Recruit and hire staff
  27. Manage knowledge
  28. Coaching
  29. Conduct performance reviews
  30. Propose improvements to methods, systems and procedures
  31. Evaluate work environments, programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury
  32. Assign, co-ordinate and review projects and programs
