The Near North District School Board
requires a
1.0 Temporary Child Development Counsellor - North Region
Effective August 28, 2024 to June 26, 2024 or until the earlier return of the employee
Location: North Region - North Bay, Sturgeon Falls and Mattawa
Reporting to the Mental Health Lead, this position will actively support learning readiness for “at risk” students.
Qualifications:
- Three year Child/Adolescent Youth Worker Diploma
- One to two years experience in a school environment
Skills/Knowledge Required:
- Demonstrated experience in providing counselling related to learning readiness for students and their parents
- Proven ability to provide strategies and programs to assist students in dealing with social, emotional, and behavioural issues
- Ability to act as a liaison between community agencies, the home, the school, and the classroom teachers
- Ability in designing strategies to address and track social skills, time management, study habits, and other areas that effect student success
- Experience working with adolescent youths with behavioural and/or social/emotional issues
- Knowledge of and respect for Indigenous teaching and culture
Additional Requirements :
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle
Rate of Pay: $34.22 per hour
