Reporting directly to the Executive Director, Office Of The Statutory Director, this position provides leadership, expertise, and strategic direction for Workforce Development (WFD). WFD supports a comprehensive range of job-specific training, learning, and development for ministry staff, Delegated First Nations Agencies and Caregivers (foster, kinship and adoptive) and is responsible for all training and development related to child intervention service delivery, approximately 7000 people. These services are provided to children, youth and families under the Child Youth and Family Enhancement Act (CYFEA).

The Director has the overall responsibility for proposing and implementing training and development approaches and strategies in alignment with ministry goals. This includes ensuring delivery staff have access to high quality learning and development for their program delivery competencies. The Director proactively develops networks and works in collaboration with a various internal and external stakeholders including ministry executive, First Nations agencies, other levels of government, police, RCMP, post-secondary institutions, and other community partners in order to ensure delivery staff training needs are met. The Director oversees managers, professionals, and contractors who provide consultation, design, development, delivery, and evaluation for training. 

The Director offers expertise and knowledge regarding adult learning, training development and delivery. The Director is also accountable for the ministry's learning management system which includes online learning delivery capabilities. The position is accountable for the effective fiscal management of a multi-million dollar budget and oversees a team of instructional designers and training professionals who provide consultation, design, development, delivery and evaluation for training across the province as well as managers with program area responsibilities. The Director champions a culture of lifelong learning, and supports delivery staff in having the right skills and competencies needed to serve children and families.

Qualifications

Minimum Recruitment Guideline:
 

  • The position requires a post-graduate degree in a related social science. Extensive experience in adult education and training is required. The role requires experience evaluating the success of training programs and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders is required. Equivalencies are considered.
  • Depending on the applicable statutory or unique requirements of the position, specific qualifications may apply.
  • 3 years of related experience is required.

Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week (full-time).

Edmonton - Alberta
