The Opportunity

Are you passionate about leading initiatives in Talent Management, Learning and Development, and Employee Experience? Join SAIT as a Manager, Talent Development, a pivotal role in shaping and executing SAIT's overall Talent strategy. Reporting to the Director, HR Centres of Excellence, you will drive the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs contributing to SAIT’s Talent Strategy. Overseeing learning and development initiatives, managing talent programs, and enhancing employee experience, you will foster a culture of continuous growth and satisfaction.

You will bring a balance of people and technical skills, broad knowledge of learning development, talent programs, project management, and strategic planning to SAIT. You have excellent recognition of client needs and enabling technologies will maximize our workforce's success. Your background in human resources will ensure you understand key talent and employee needs. As a member of the Human Resources management team, you will resolve internal issues, provide program planning and implementation, and assist with ongoing evaluation of systems and best practices. Leadership, communication, and interpersonal relationships are vital to enabling the team to work effectively together.


The Role
  • People Leadership:
  • Guide and implement initiatives across learning and development, talent programs, and employee experience.
  • Develop programs that enhance SAIT’s employee value proposition.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations aligned with business outcomes.
  • Implement and measure the success of talent management programs.
  • Influence key stakeholders to prioritize talent management at all organizational levels.
  • Stay current with best practices and advise on impactful strategies.
  • Mentor and advise leaders across SAIT on building a talent-centric culture and integrating talent knowledge into business strategy.
  • Manage and coach a team of 4 direct reports, ensuring alignment with HR strategies.
  • Learning and Development:
  • Design and implement comprehensive learning strategies.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to create specialized training programs.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Talent Programs
  • Oversee performance management, succession planning, talent reviews, career development and strategic initiatives.
  • Implement succession planning processes to ensure talent continuity.
  • Oversee the creation of fair and transparent performance evaluation systems.
  • Employee Experience
  • Enhance employee engagement through innovative programs.
  • Conduct surveys to measure satisfaction and identify areas for improvement.
  • Oversee institution-wide awards and recognition programs.
  • Manage Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives.
  • Change Management
  • Understand stakeholders' talent needs and expectations.
  • Facilitate communication and feedback sessions.
  • Ensure clear and timely communication through various channels.
  • Design training programs to help employees and managers adapt to new initiatives.
  • Advocate for successful change adoption and integration.
  • Develop strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure business continuity.
  • Innovation
  • Create sustainable talent management solutions.
  • Lead focus groups, program facilitation, and leadership sessions.
Qualifications & Skills
  • CPHR preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience with at least five years in Talent Development.
  • Certified Talent Management Practitioner (CTMP) designation is a strong asset.
  • Preferred certifications: DiSC, EQ-I, or Professional Certified Coach (PCC).
  • Background in human resources with knowledge of employee life-cycle programs.
  • Knowledge of post-secondary sector legislation and practices is preferred.
  • Strong collaboration skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Broad knowledge of learning and development, talent, and employee experience programs.
  • Ability to facilitate and consult in a team environment.
  • Dedicated to customer focus and quality.
  • High adaptability and flexibility in a changing environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Initiative and ability to prioritize, execute, and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience with third-party vendors and service providers.

Salary range: $105,000-130,000

Paid Leave: 4 Weeks Vacation / 14 Flex Days per year
